The following are examples of modern day uniforms.

Paramedics have special paramedic uniforms for their specific profession. They tend to injured people first before they are taken to hospitals. Their uniforms serve the two main purposes of professionalism and protection. The color of the uniforms is that of dark green, blue or black. This is in a bid to reduce the visibility of dried blood and other body fluids. Durable cotton is usually used when making such products.

People participating in manual labor jobs are said to be doing blue-collar jobs. The jobs include construction workers, miners, and electricians among others. Thick and highly durable cotton is usually preferred due to the demanding nature of the job. The blue color on most uniforms serves to conceal the dirt and stains that are associated with the job.

Most professions and jobs that are conducted from the inside of an office are labeled as white-collar jobs. Most of the modern day professions fit here and they include attorneys and accountants. The normal dress code for men is a long or short sleeved shirt, pants, belts tie and black shoes. For women, they usually wear dresses, skirts and blouses. Suits have also come too associated with white-collar jobs.

Proper firefighting uniform ensures firefighters are able to work in very hostile environments and prevent them from serious injury. Resistance to high temperatures and good insulation properties to heat are the desirable properties in a fire fighting uniform. Most comprise of a cotton t-shirt, suspenders, jacket, insulated pants, a helmet and steel toed rubber boots. All that ascertains the protection of firefighters.

Many schools in the world require their students to be dressed in some kind of uniform. This is mainly for identification that they are from a particular school. Although the dress code varies from place to place, boys usually ware dark colored shorts or pants complete with a light shirt and a tie. For girls, it is mainly a dark colored dress or a light blouse complete with a skirt.

Medical professionals wear nursing uniforms. They are made to identify the nurse and to uphold hygiene. A dress, apron and a cap is the more traditional look for a nurse. Scrubs have emerged as a more modern look for nurses. There has been a debate on whether to drop the traditional look for scrubs but with the recent influx of male nurses, more changes seem to be taking place.

Another type of special uniform is the sport uniforms. They are made for athletes and sport partakers. Their main objective is to distinguish players. Spectators thus can differentiate team members. They are ever changing to give athletes the best levels of comfort and performance. Therefore, uniforms should be respected since they form an integral part of the society.
