Colors speak volumes and can effectively communicate numerous things about individuals even without their knowledge. They are associated with memories of people, places, and occasions among other things. It is a powerful form of non-verbal communication that has the ability to achieve a greater influence than the word of mouth. The color choices for the clothes we wear, cars we drive, home decor and more say a lot about who we are. In this regard, turban colors too have a special meaning.



Turban colors symbolize various things that very form one place to another. A turban color determines what it is used for. These colors are interpreted differently in different areas. In most cases they are used as a clear indication of the wealth of an individual and in this way signify social cast in the society. The height of the fabric also bears a certain meaning.



A headdress plays a very significant role in Sikhism and Islam. It is fashioned from a long and slender piece of cloth. In most of these areas it is mainly worn by men. Women on the other hand are required by religion to mask their faces and heads in public places. They use hijabs to conform to this religious practice. This practice helps them to preserve their culture by upholding their customs, beliefs and traditions.



There is no set design or color for turbans. They are fashioned from a wide variety of materials that come in different colors. Some of the most popular colors are green, black, orange and navy blue. The quality of a turban is determined by the fabric used. Regardless of the fabric used, they are always attractive. The different materials used make them affordable to everyone and cater for the diverse tastes and preferences. Some of the materials used include silk, synthetics, fine muslin and cotton.



In those regions of the world where most people are Muslims, it is an important dress to leaders and scholars in this religion. These individuals wear white turbans together with special caps. Black turbans are set aside for individuals who are directly connected to Prophet Muhammad. White and green represent the color of paradise. Brightly colored headdresses are worn during parties and weddings. They are usually decorated with jewelry to make them more attractive. Plain turbans are suitable for solemn events.



In these communities it is viewed as a proper way of dressing. It signifies desirable values held in high regard by members of this society. Some of the desirable values are manhood, self-respect, devotion among others. Most people wear green and white turbans which are believed to cause their prayers to be answered properly.



In the Sikh community, orange and green turbans are very popular. They play an important role during commemorative events and on special days of religious observance. Pink turbans are favorites for celebratory occasions such as marriage ceremonies and other parties. White headdresses are suitable for wearing every day as a way of upholding religious beliefs.



There is no defined standard that recommends or prohibits any turban colors. Any pattern or color is acceptable. Most people prefer a headdress that corresponds to the color of their outfit. The common norms and popular favorites have led to a situation where certain colors are preferred for specific events or occasions. Generally, there no defined rules that prohibit any color or design and therefore the choices made are purely due to personal preference.
