Pandora - The Makers Of Charm Bracelets

Pandora is the name of a renowned jewellery label that started in Denmark. Nowadays Pandora is most known for its charm bracelets. As of writing, Pandora has released approximately eight hundred distinctive charm variations around the globe. It does make other jewellery too. Some of its bestsellers include birthstone rings, stud earrings and necklaces.

The corporation’s beginnings lie with husband and wife Per and Winnie Enevoldsen. Per laboured as a goldsmith up until 1982. This is when the pair opened their first jewellery shop in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. The couple made regular trips to Thailand on the lookout for jewellery which could prove saleable in their shop back.

However, by 1984 they decided to shift their focus away from retail. Instead, they wanted to operate as a wholesale outlet. This meant that they would need to open a factory to produce their own range of jewellery. This is how was Pandora Productions was born. Lone Frandsen was hired to fashion Pandora’s first jewellery collection.

By 1987 the firm had become referred to as just Pandora, and development was brought back to Denmark. Per and Winne established their headquarters in Copenhagen. This was also the year the company made a decision to conclude all retail activity. This meant that Pandora was now a jewellery developer and wholesale provider.

Pandora acquired an additional jewellery designer in the form of Lisbeth En Larsen in 1996. She was employed along with Lone Frandsen to basically conceptualize and define a unique concept of jewellery. This was to be Pandora’s big selling point.

Pandora’s real breakthrough came in the year 2000This was the year they unveiled their first range of charms and charm bracelets. The timing for this was absolutely perfect because charms were beginning to become popular again. Pandora marketed their charms with the slogan, “one charm for every unforgettable moment in your life.” The charms themselves were composed of precious metals like gold and silver. They even produced a range of highly colourful glass charms. These were handmade in the famous island of Island of Murano in Italy. The charms were a huge hit with customers. They were taken with the vast array of different designs on offer. In addition, the charms were well made, but reasonable priced.

Pandora had cleverly added an additional element to all their charms. Every charm contained a hollow centre which enabled it to be threaded onto a Pandora bracelet. However, there were threads built into this hollow. This meant that the charm must be screwed over the end of the bracelet in order to secure it. The genius behind this decision meant that Pandora charms could only fit on Pandora bracelets. Once a customer had a Pandora bracelet they became committed to only using Pandora charms on it.
